Iris is a Korean drama series that aired in 2009, starring by Lee Byung-hun, Kim Tae-hee, Jung Joon-ho, Kim Seung-woo, Kim So-yeon and T.O.P (Choi Seung-hyun) from KPOP group idol Big Bang. It aired on KBS2 from October 14 to December 17, 2009 every Wednesdays and Thursdays at 21:55. This drama was directed by Kim Kyu Tae and Yang Yoon Ho, which scripted by Choi Wan Kyu and Kang Je Kyu. Iris Synopsis

Iris tells about Kim Hyun Joon, an assassin who belongs to a top secret organization known as the “NSS” whereas T.O.P is an assassin who works in another secret organization located in the United States called “IRIS” and was ordered to kill Hyun Joon. Seung Hee is a psychological analyst who plays an important role in bring Hyun Joon into the “NSS.” Jin Sa Woo is Hyun Joon’s colleague and falls in love with Seung Hee as well but keeps this to himself.

Brothers Kim Hyun-jun (Lee Byung-hun) and Jin Sa-woo (Jung Joon-ho), were training under the South Korean army's 707th Special Mission Battalion until they were scouted by NSS (National Security Service). The duo was independently scouted by the beautiful NSS agent, Choi Seung-hee (Kim Tae-hee); the two didn't realize they have fallen for the same woman and continued to win her love. Unaware they have been scouted, the two were secretly captured and subjected through a simulated torture test and the duo passed their test to be worthy NSS agents.

After completing the test, Hyun-jun and Sawoo introduced to the director of the NSS, Baek San (Kim Yeong-cheol). Baek San explain to them that the NSS is a secret organization in charge of foreign threats and protect the interests of the state preemption through wetwork operations, including the murder of anyone who could be a threat to South Korea (SK) national security. Since its founding in 1976, during the government of Park Chung-hee, the existence of the body remains a state secret from everyone, including the President.

Once joined, the couple learned that Seung-hee is a secret agent scout them. While the duo was surprised and a little sore, Hyun-jun angry because he felt his most mocked; during a celebratory dinner team, Hyun-jun faced alone and the two embrace the passion that they have for one another. After that, the two maintain a romantic relationship a secret unbeknownst to anyone.

Hyun-jun and Seung-hee took the opportunity to secretly fly to Akita and Japan for a romantic winter escape after saving the life of Presidential Decree Cho Myung-ho (Lee Jung-gil); Baek San seize the opportunity to reveal the NSS to the president to get his support. While on vacation, the couple made friends with a young teenager, Yuki (who smitten with Hyun-jun at first glance). However, their vacation was cut short after being pulled back by the NSS for the mission to change lives in Budapest: restore NK chief nuclear scientist, Hong Seung-ryong.
At Budapest, Sa-woo catches up with Hyun-jun and Seung-hee to extract Hong Seung-ryong back to SK; Sa-woo learn from their romantic relationship and pretend to be happy for them. Unfortunately, Hong Seung-ryong was killed along with his handlers by IRIS Agent Vic. Afterwards, Baek San (who secretly agent IRIS) Hyun-jun cheated by having him kill North Korean Minister Yoon.
Hyun-jun managed to kill NK Minister Yoon and on the run. NK agent, Seon-hwa and Cheol-young, hunted for Hyun-jun as he fled. Wounded, Hyun-jun escaped capture and try to get help, but Baek San betrayed by manipulating Sa-woo to silence; he escaped arrest and after reuniting with Seung-hee. The pair agreed to run away together, but both thought each other had been killed by the enemy (Seung-hee by car bombs and Hyun-jun by plane crashed). Because of their failure to capture Hyun-jun, NK agents, Seon-hwa, was stripped of his title and imprisoned.
Both Hyun-jun and Seung-hee survived their ordeal. Hyun-jun saved by Jeong-hoon (a friend of his deceased parents Hyun-jun and reveal Baek San kill them). Seung-hee refuses to accept the death of Hyun-jun, but Sa-woo assures him she was dead. Jeong-hoon warns Hyun-jun of war profiteering organization known as IRIS, the power that has long existed to create political turmoil to profit from the discord of a country and contra-agency against them. Later, the president's official announcement of reunification, Hyun-jun and Seon-hwa looking for hidden nuke. When Hyun-jun and Baek San finally meet, Hyun-jun Baek San demand for apology, but Baek San could not help laughing at this issue. Hyun-jun tempted to kill Baek San, but Hyun-jun had him arrested.
Then, Sa-woo and IRIS agents attacked a local mall for a hostage to squeeze both sides of the Korean government to release them and make IRIS agent presidential decree announced their political stance to not unite with NK. Hyun-jun's negotiator for the president and for the release of hostages, but he was really there to pull conscience Sa-woo. Because IRIS agents have conflicting orders with Sa-woo, Hyun-jun and Sa-woo is forced to team up again and kill all the agents IRIS. During the gun-battle, Sa-woo was seriously injured. However, during the drive, Hyun-jun has been criticized in the head by IRIS Agent Ray (of IRIS II). After that, life and death Hyun-jun then classified, Baek San was sent to the "black prison," and IRIS retroactively for three years until they get back their strength to take on the world once again.
