Canola Synopsis

Canola will tell the story of high school student Hye-Ji (Kim Go-Eun), who is a troubled teen with a scarred mind and a secret. She is dramatically reunited with her grandmother, Gye-Choon (Youn Yuh-Jung), after going missing for 12 years. Gye-Choon lives as a hanyeo (female diver) on Jeju Island.

Directed by Chang, filming of this movie began on April 21, 2015 in Jeju Island and finished on July 9, 2015 at a set in Paju, South Korea. The last scene filmed involved Gye-Choon (Youn Yuh-Jung) becoming shocked after learning of a secret that Hye-Ji (Kim Go-Eun) kept hidden. Interesting part of this movie is this is first acting performance in a feature film by Minho (a member of idol group SHINee).
